Professional info

I am an architect by profession and a full time artist now.  Over the years my style of work has evolved as has my range of products.  I started about nine years ago, working exclusively on creating original art(paintings) of all sizes, usings acrylics.  I have since worked with a wide range of media and my products now include, prints of my ink and acrylic work, handmade travertine coasters with my artwork, journals, note pads, note cards and tote bags to name a few.

My work shows my unrestrained obsession with color and I paint and draw whatever catches my fancy, sometimes a color scheme is the compelling factor and sometimes an image from nature is.  I love to experiment with different media ranging from canvas and paints, to paper, tin foil, wax, cloth and texture pastes to name a few.  Each medium speaks a different language and I get to learn so much when I work with any of them.

I have a Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Pune, India and a Masters in Urban Design from the University of Texas at Austin.  I have worked briefly in the architectural field and then worked freelance on small remodels and interior design work before deciding to dive into the world of art full-time.  I think this has been one of the best decisions I've made and one of the most enjoyable 9+ year long rides.

Inspiration and what not

I like to live by the words "Bloom where you 're planted", but I do also like to acknowledge where I came from, the places I grew up in and the culture that gave me rich, vivid and colorful memories.  As such some of my work is a nod to the multi colored, multi flavored and very textured land that is India. Some other pieces of work have a strong modern feel and may or may not have a hint of the ethnic spice and flavor.

I started out exclusively creating original art, paintings large and small but in due time realised that original art is an item of luxury for most people and so it has a limited audience.  It only seemed fair that anyone that admired art should be able to afford it. And so I diversified my work to include funtional art such as handmade tile coasters, tea towels, tote bags, journals, notepads, note cards and other products that more people could use and afford.  Prints of original art are another way to be able to offer art at a lower price point and I decided to introduce those as well.

I LOVE working on commissioned pieces and have worked on numerous pieces commissioned by cutomers all over the globe.  So if you see something you like within my portfolio or have an idea that you would like me to put on canvas for you just drop me a messgage via the Contact section of this website or send me an email at and I will get back to you shortly.

At this point in life I have spent more than half of my life  in the US but do draw strong inspiration from the colors, textiles, food and heritage that make up India.  I planted myself here a couple decades back and have enjoyed blooming and growing here-as a person and an artist and I hope to continue doing so in the future too.
